How Suzhal closes the loop
Suzhal means to spin, rotate or cycle in Tamil. It owns the point where waste first enters the formal system, starting in Chennai and Tiruvallur, and turns every gram into traceable material. The games follow the same path.
1 · Capture
Smart eco-kiosk
Solar, off-grid and built from eco-boards. The shape of each opening sorts the material, load cells weigh every drop to ±5 g, and the depositor is paid by UPI.
2 · Densify
In-vehicle baler
Shreds and bales dry waste on the route, about 5× denser, so one pickup can serve a whole panchayat. Every bale gets a lot ID at the moment it is compacted.
3 · Trace
Digital material passport
Origin, date, purity and chain of custody for every bale, which buyers, brands and EPR audits can trust.
4 · Rebuild
Eco-boards for the city
Captured plastic is pressed into boards for benches, bus shelters and more kiosks, so the loop pays for itself.
Green bin
Wet
Food, peels, flowers, banana-leaf plates. Composted or sent to biogas.
Blue bin
Dry
Paper, cartons, PET, glass, metal, wrappers. Kept clean, it is raw material.
Red bin
Sanitary & hazard
Diapers, pads, bandages, medicines, razors. Wrapped, marked and handled separately.
Separate drop
E-waste & cloth
Phones, batteries and chargers go to e-waste recyclers. Old clothes go for re-wear and upcycling.
